Return from the dark side/short sighted hands
Have you missed me?? I know it's been a while....more than a while. There's just been so much to deal with in the last couple of weeks, but I'm finally taking some time to breathe. Which in itself is no easy task as I have had the flu for four days and my lungs still feel like they have a besser brick tied to them. I was hoping that this year would see a shift of the burden, but unfortunately it's not going to happen. The step back that I was hoping to take has had to be postponed as I find myself on the front lines again. This time I am taking on the anti discrimination tribunal and the education department, to make sure that Kit is allowed to continue using his laptop in class. I can't believe how hard I'm having to push for something that is so neccessary for him. So far I've had to deal with teacher aides who think they know more about his condition than his paediatrician, teachers who refuse to make the smallest adjustments, and a special education system that seems to be designed as a punishment rather than a support. Even with occupational therapy reports and letters from the specialist clinic, I'm still pushing a mack truck up a steep hill. So....certain sacrifices have had to be made. I contacted Karen at Mystical Scrapbooks and let her know that I would not be able to continue as a DT member, because I didn't feel that I could give enough of my time and energy, with things the way they are at the moment. I have loved every minute of the time I have spent there, but when you're sinking fast, you gotta lighten the load. I 've also been back to the doctor and had a revamp of my medications, plus some blood tests to make sure I'm not going to turn green or grow an extra head. Fun fun fun. The bright spot in all this at the moment is that my boys have officially been granted permission to busk at the National Folk Festival in Canberra next week, and they are SO excited....Kit is playing his trombone, and Sebi has a set of bongo drums. And yes, it looks just as funny as it sounds. They've learnt some Disney movie themes and watching Sebi do "Hakuna Mutata" is an absolute scream. All we need now is a hat to pass around and we're all set. We leave next Wednesday morning (early) and we'll be back on Easter Monday (even earlier!!!) So I am focusing my thoughts on next week and just trying to get through the next few days five minutes at a time. Wish me luck. xox

Yes we have missed you! I am so sorry to hear that the High School is making it so hard for Kit, it is so unecessary. Hang in there and keep up the fight, if anyone can beat them it's you! Hope you have a fantastic time in Canberra, take lots of photos of the boys busking and put them on your blog when you get home.
Have an awesome time Kjirsten and take a few deep, cool Canberran breaths Sweetie.
