Grimm....love this. Fractured fairytales with a scoop of eye candy. Lush!!
Piano Practice. Firstborn is working on Mendelssohn's Song Without Words, and it's heartbreakingly good.
Achilles and Hektor this morning when I asked them if they wanted to go for a walk while I delivered the papers. Achilles jumped on the pram canopy and Hektor perched on the footrest, while I unzipped the cover. Who says cats don't talk.
Tuesday nights at Baskin Robbins. Extra scoop for $1. Bargain.
Possibility of a move up for FF at work. Praying and hoping.
Goodies from Jules. My house smells divine.
Concrete Zen, now that the evenings are finally cooling off a bit.

The Hartwells vs theTravelling Wilburys
So today we went to Wet and Wild for a much needed break. Firstborn managed to get a day off, which is a rarity so we decided to make the most of it. We hired a cabana (a little pricey, but SO worth it, plus we all chipped in) so that we could guarantee a table, chairs and some shade for the hottest part of the day. Lunchtime arrives, and we go off to get some food, send the boys back to the table, while FF and I queue for drinks. As we make our way back, Second son comes flying up and tells us that someone has moved into our cabana, and all our stuff is been taken to the security office. I seriously couldn't make this shit up. Sure enough, we get back to the table, there's a guy in uniform and a park hostess chickie, manhandling all our stuff while Firstborn is staging a sit in on a plastic chair. The two people who had moved in were not impressed, even when it was proved that Yes, we had paid the pricey cabana hire fee and we weren't a bunch of random gypsies looking to cop a squat in their 'reserved' area. The funniest bit was when the woman kept repeating "but we reserved it", like it was some sort of magic catchphrase. We explained that we had reserved it too, and there was obviously some sort of double booking problem, but she was having none of it. Fortunately, the security guy, who had been putting all our stuff back (complete with directions from second son about where everything should go, lol) managed to get them to leave before Firstborn challenged them to Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock. And we all lived happily ever after. Except for the double booking people. They were pissed.

Secret identities verses real life deflection.
I went to my volunteer interview at the Mater, and they told me that they thought I would be suited to dealing with the book trolley. I think the Kindle glued to my hand kinda gave away my bibliophilic addiction issues. Which I'm all good with.....except for the socialising part of the deal. It's not something I do easily. Or that I even LIKE doing that much. As a general rule, people over the age of 10 make me uncomfortable. They're generally taller than me, most of them are smarter, and they all know what they're doing. Except for me. So the book trolley/say hi how are you to random sick people thing was starting to weigh heavily on what's left of my mind after two weeks of state goverment education UNTIL....... I had a brainwave. I decided to use the Ladypop protocol (sounds very Big Bang, no?) and apply it to the trolley deal. On the crossing, people don't see me. They see what I'm wearing...which is usually a little bit sideways of conservative, and while they're trying to work out why I'm wearing pajamas and a pilot's helmet (because they ROCK), I can deal with them in a perfectly normal, polite way without getting all tangled up in social protocols that I have never understood. It's like reverse camoflage.....the clothes speak for me, and I get to hide behind them and stay in my happy place. So I decided to design myself a TrolleyWench uniform. FF thinks a better name would be"BookSl*t" but that's because he's a disgusting cavemen. ANYWAY. I found some Dr Seuss (my fave books ever) material, and the mother of all mothers is gonna make me some Cat in The Hat pants and a waistcoat, for my trolleywenching duties. And possibly a tail. And I found these
on Ebay, which I would seriously committ murder to possess. So things are looking pretty positive.

You have to live here to get it.....
but I'll post it anyway.
Firstborn has been promoted from "Sheldon" to "el Buzzo". This led to Second Son asking if he could be "bumped up" to Sheldon. Of course!! We aim to please. Looking forward to many hours devoted to "Imaginary Piece Of String Theory" in the back seat of the Rago. Bazinga!!
Second Son was nominated for Class leader. He didn't win, but the fact that the teacher nominated him means that he wasn't setting fire to stuff or climbing out a second floor window. Yay!!!

Project 365 (37) Pop Tarts
They're actually Traffic Control Kitties, but they're called the Pop Tarts, because they flirt with everyone.
Today they had someone spraying them with water to keep them cool, while I melted into a puddle. Noice!!
This is them chilling in front of the aircon after we got home from the afternoon shift.
Achilles on the left, Hektor on the right.

Catching up.....
So, February.
So far....
Firstborn and FF had a minor NDE in the Rago on Thursday night, resulting in two stuffed rims and several hundred dollars worth of repairs. Fortunately, no one else was involved, or even near. But, it has reinforced my opinion that I am nobody's L plate passenger.
I signed up to volunteer at the Mater, had my first interview, go back for my next one on Friday. I had to put my preferences down as to where I'd prefer to be placed, I'm not really bothereed where they put me, except NOT anywhere that requires any sort of filing, because I suck at it. So, we wait and see. On the down side, they have to run a blood screen to make sure all your immunizations are up to date, and I just know I'm gonna need top ups in everything. Pincushion city, here I come. Blech.
If the cats get any bigger, I'll be able to harness them and buy a sulky. Pony-cats!! Love it!!
I have FINALLY gotten up to date with my 365 photos, cos my puter is up and running at last!! Bliss!!

One of my samples for the volunteers at the Mater. Have to take them up when I go for interview on Friday.
Project 365 (34) Learning Curve
or maybe that should be "learning not to hit the curb...especially at 50km/h.
Fortunately no one else was involved, DH and Firstborn are fine, and the Rago lives to fight another day.
